‘Tis the Season to Disinfect

More than ever, clients are looking to get their salon services done in the cleanest space in town. We want to help you be Mrs./Mr. Clean and not spread the wrong type of Christmas cheer.  Here are some reminders on how to properly disinfect your tools all year round. 

What Can and Cannot Be Disinfected (Porous Vs. Non-Porous)

Standard emery board files, buffers and pumice stones are porous and should be thrown away after each service. Also, a product that has wood on it should be thrown away too, like orange wood sticks. 

Diamond hand files, nippers, manicure brushes, anything metal or plastic are non-porous should be disinfected after every service.  

Time To Clean!

This is the single most important step in the entire process. All tools must be cleaned off before placed in EPA disinfectant. Use hot soapy water and scrub your tools to remove all debris. This includes dust, product and skin cells. Once you have thoroughly cleaned them, you are ready to disinfect. 

Pro Tip: Use a soap that coats through oil as there are lots of natural oils on the skin.
