Scrolling along everyone’s highlight reel each day sure doesn’t help with our self-confidence, am I right?
We’d all be lying if we said we didn’t find ourselves comparing another person’s nail art, amount of clients, the way a person looks, or how many likes or views someone else has. It is a toxic cycle that we can find ourselves in if we aren’t careful.
Having confidence in ourselves and our business is key to making a steady profit. Clients feel this when they sit in your chair, but it can be difficult when our world has a skewed view of what expectations should be.
Despite the fact that we can’t change the media, there are two tools that help with your confidence that you can use at any time.
Tool #1: Replace negative thoughts with positive self-talk.
Confidence starts in your thoughts so it’s a great place to start. As soon as you have a negative thought, stop and replace it with a positive one. For example, if you find yourself comparing your nail art to another tech’s on Instagram, replace the negative statement with “I’m going to figure out how they do that and try it myself!” The more you can replace negative thoughts with positive messages, you will start to believe it and give yourself the boost that you need.
Tool #2: Create a personal mantra to retrain your brain to believe in yourself!
It is important that you have a reminder you can lean on when you are having a bad day or feel insecure. Creating a personal mantra and saying it daily really helps. Some ideas include “I am enough” or “I am ready for the challenge.”
In a world that creates unrealistic expectations and achievements, we can create within ourselves healthy expectations and positivity that translates into better confidence. Watch your self-esteem rise when you change the way you talk to yourself on a daily basis.
